Emily Hartzog, M.D.
Emily Hartzog is a licensed, board-certified gynecologist. She received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cornell Weill Medical Center at New York Hospital. She has also completed an Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the University of Arizona in conjunction with Dr. Andrew Weil.
Dr. Hartzog has more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice. Her early career was focused on giving care to the underserved. She practiced for 17 years in a rural town bordering the Navajo and Ute reservations in the Four Corners region of the United States, where she was the only obstetrician gynecologist for a 50 mile radius. During that time, she also set up a clinic in Michoacan, Mexico for an indigenous population which is still running today.
She returned to New York City in 2008 with a more holistic approach to medicine after learning much from native healers and frontier medical practitioners. She then joined the Beth Israel Medical Center for Health and Healing, where she practiced integrative gynecology for 9 years.
Her mission is to provide care that is deeply patient-centered. She believes that the practice of medicine should be both evidence-based and personalized with an approach that makes sense for both the patient and physician.
